Complimentary Paper Bags provided by the City of Salem are available to city residents at City Hall starting the beginning of October through December 1st. Bags can be picked up at City Hall, Monday through Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Paper Leaf bags will be picked up starting at the end of October and end mid-December, weather permitting.
Please use paper bags. Plastic bags will not be picked up by the city.
Kindly contact your trash hauler for leaf bag pickup should you decide to use plastic bags. Many trash haulers will pick up plastic leaf bags for little or no charge.
The City of Salem will not remove the following items from curb lawns:
- Limbs that are cut. Only storm damage will be picked up.
- Grass clippings
- Shrubs/Bushes
- Other types of yard waste
Bagged leaves are only picked up during the Fall season. The city does not pick up leaves in the Spring.
